BOZAR - Palais des Beaux-Arts
The Palace of Fine Arts in Brussels was built just after World War I as a symbol of various artistic disciplines coming together and intertwining in order to reveal the real social contribution of art. Today, almost a century after its foundation, the people of Brussels lovingly call it Bozar and often visit the site to see theatre meet cinema, dance meet music, and science meet art, as they create a multi-faceted world of art and philosophy.
In the beginning of the 20th Century, architect Victor Horta was commissioned to complete a very challenging project – a cultural centre, equipped to host all known forms of art as well as the ones that were yet to be discovered. It had to be inspiring in its essence. After several years of hard work, in 1928, the Palace of Fine Arts of Brussels was ready to open its doors. All expectations were met and all ideas fully realised. On the one hand, the centre was purely functional; it had the right space, equipment, atmosphere and interior design to stage performance of all kinds of art, and on the other, it was simply a beautiful building testifying to the architectural genius of the epoch. Victor Horta himself considered the The Palace of Fine Arts the top achievement of his career.

Today Bozar has even more functions. It is the biggest cultural centre in Belgium and one of the most important cultural centres in Europe. It houses several concert halls and dance halls where a wide range of performances are staged – from classic to modern pieces, performed both by national and international companies and bands. The exposition halls present famous collections in various fields of plastic arts. The site is also home to an architecture club which holds regular exhibitions and conferences. On occasion, events dedicated to social and political issues are held at Bozar as well.

Situated in the heart of Brussels, Bozar is one of the most superb landmarks of the Belgian capital. It is where tradition and innovation collide to form best-quality modern art.
