The theatre Lino Ventura was established in 1992. It resulted of the political will of local institutions to create a new artistic and cultural centre and to revive the artistic life in the Ariane neighborhood. Specialized in music and drama performances, the theatre has quickly turned into one of the modern cultural centres of the city. It also has the second biggest stage in Nice – 700 places.

The project of establishment of the Theatre Lino Ventura was among the bold initiatives of the municipality of Nice. It is an illustrative example of how political will can generate an impulse to be the motor of vivid and productive cultural project. The theatre was first established with the objective to revive the cultural life of Ariana neighborhood. Starting with music and drama, today the theatre has also cinema facilities and screens some of the masterpieces of the French cinema – classic and modern.

Theatre Lino Venture has the second biggest hall in town after the Theatre National de Nice. It has 700 places and most up-to-date facilities for a scope of artistic performances. Lately the theatre has focused on modern concerts, mainly of French and local stars. Theatre Lino Venture, as most contemporary artistic institutions, embraces international initiatives. It hosts flamenco shows, foreign music and dance performances while simultaneously promoting modern 'street' styles of music – hip hop for instance. It also provides stage for guest artists and is most often chosen by them when they visit Cote D’Azur.

Having developed from a municipality project, Theatre Lino Venture is today one of the most provocative and bold theatres in town. It worships modern art and often works with educational institutions and young artists introducing new impulses into the contemporary art. Music, dance, cinema and drama have evolved here with the fllavour of Nice’s temper and the classic talent France has for art.
