The Institut Européen des Hautes Etudes Internationales
The European Institute of Higher International Studies, or Institut Européen des Hautes Etudes Internationales (IEHEI), is a private international institution for graduate studies and research. The institute was founded in 1964 by the Centre International de Formation Européenne with the support of the city of Nice, as well as the European Commission (EC).
IEHEI cooperates with numerous universities in Italy, Germany, Turkey and Central and Oriental Europe. The institution’s programme is directed to students who have finished their studies and to young professionals who want to expand their knowledge of European integration and international relations. IEHEI invites a variety of lecturers and provides visits to different European countries. Students can discuss current conflicts in world politics with professionals in the module Journées d’actualités. Each year, the institution organises a one week study-trip to such international organisations as the UNO, NATO and Council of Europe, as well as to European institutions, such as the European Parliamentand EC. IEHEI creates, and manages, various centres of research, such as Club de Nice - Energie et géopolitique, Entretiens autour de l'identité européenne, Académie de la paix et de la sécurité internationale and Entretiens sur le régionalisme.

The institute offers a masters programme in Advanced European and International Studies in two branches, trilingual and anglophone, and seeks solutions to social, political, economic and cultural problems of the world. The trilingual branch programme begins in Nice, with classes on the basics of the four modules (European Integration, International Relations, Democracy and Society, and Federalism), in addition to international conferences and seminars. The second term, in Berlin, continues with a focus on Eastern Europe and the Baltic. IEHEI’s partner in Berlin Institut für Europäische Politik (Institute for European Politics) provides dialogue with European integration professionals. Another German partner provides a one week stay at the University of Rostock. A study-trip to European and international organisations is also available, including two months in Nice and two weeks at the University of Rome.

The anglophone branch programme covers three terms in Istanbul (October–December), Nice (January–February) and Berlin. In Istanbul, IEHEI works with Bahçesehir University, in the district of Besiktas. In the second term, students have classes focusing on Democracy and Society, and Federalism, in Nice. The last term, in Berlin, focuses on the experiences of Eastern and Central European. During the stay here, students benefit from lectures by professionals specialised in international relations and European integration.
