Institut Eurecom
The Institut Eurécom is a school of engineers and a research centre in Communications Systems. The school is small but very dynamic. It was created in Sophia-Antipolis by Télécom Paris and the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 1991. Also it was joined by some other European universities such as the Politecnico di Torino and the Helsinki University of Technology. Eurécom has benefited from a strong interaction with the industrial world. Its current partners include France Télécom, Hitachi, Swisscom, Thales, SFR, STMicroelectronics, Cisco, BMW Group Research and Technology, and others.
Eurécom recruits about 100 students of Masters level per year, and around 40 students at PhD level. The institute also chose to welcome foreign teachers and students and to adopt the European curriculum. Once students have graduated from their schools and received their training certificates from Eurécom, they can submit a business plan for a new company to Eurécom. The institute has a genuine incubator policy of helping young entrepreneurs to set up their own companies.

The research activity of the institute is a determining element of its life. It is organized around three principal themes: multimedia communication, mobile communication and business communication (networks and security). Moreover, two Télécom Paris laboratories are associated with Eurécom, such laboratories are System on Chip and Usages of the Information Technology.

Eurécom is a major participant to European and national research programmes. The institute is associated with the CNRS, as a laboratory in communication systems (FRE 2660). The institute has been the venue for the work carried out by various people coming from diverse cultures who perceive problems and their solutions in a different way.
