Abbey of Viboldone
In 1941, the present congregation of Benedictine monks chose the Abbey of Viboldone, located near
Milan, for their monastic vocation. Previously, on orders of Napoleon Bonaparte, the monastery housed the Olivetan monks, signs of which still remain in the abbey. However, origins of the Abbey of Viboldone hail from testimony left by the Umiliati monks, who played an important role in the tumultuous period of Milan. Today, the abbey retains its traditional role of spiritual centre for prayers.
