Museo del Corso, Palazzo Cipolla
The Museo del Corso, Palazzo Cipolla traces the history of the ancient Roman road of Via Lata, or the Corso. The museum showcases many articacts related to this road, including its structures and various events that took place on and around it.
The 1.5-kilometre Via Lata is Rome's main street, which carves its way through the city's historic centre. In contrast with its neighbouring winding alleys and tiny piazzas, Via Lata is absolutely straight and wider than the remaining streets in central Rome, with its northern portion having been pedestrianised. Some of the highlights here include the
Piazza del Popolo, Santa Maria dei Miracoli, Santa Maria in Montesanto and
Piazza Venezia. Via Lata is set close to the Ara Pacis, the
Pantheon,
Fontana di Trevi, Il Vittoriano and the Forum.
