Boncompagni Ludovisi Museum of Decorative Arts
The Boncompagni Ludovisi Museum of Decorative Arts is housed in an early 20th-century mansion and features displays of high fashion from the 1950s to the 90s, as well as collections of art objects by 20th-century artists and exhibits of the Decorative Arts.
The structure belongs to the Boncompagni Ludovisi family, and has been utilised as a centre for the promotion and documentation of the modern Decorative Arts. According to the will of Princess Blanceflor Ludovisi Buoncompagni, the villa, a former setting for fashionable parties, was to be used for cultural purposes. A principal example of eclectic early 20th-century architecture, the structure was subsequently donated to the state, and following extensive restructuring, the site became home to Rome's collections of Decorative Arts, fashion and costume.
