Correr Civic Museum
Museo Civico Correr is the most ambitious project aiming to present the diachronic development of Venice in all aspects of art and life. It's set on the Piazza San Marco and encompasses the Main Section, the Napoleonian Wing, the Procuratie Nuova, the Resurgimento Museum and the Libreria Sansoviniana. They contain historical objects from all areas of human history – from weapons and costumes to art objects, paintings and documents.
A visit to the Correr can really take up an entire day. Considering that the Resurgimento Wing consists of 15 rooms alone provides an approximate notion of the dimensions of the place and the richness of its collections. The aim is to present Venice focusing on its most fabulous ages – the Middle Ages and Renaissance. The Resorgimento Wing, on the other hand, sheds light upon a totally different aspect of Venice. It represent the art of the period when Italy was united (mid-19th Century) and the artistic movements this new era provoked.

The other additional section, Libreria Sansoviniana, is both a museum and a marvellous 16th-century building. The Libreria was first intended to host the Library of St Mark, or Biblioteca Marciana. Worth seeing is the exhibition hall with its impressive frescoes on the ceiling in the main hall – Titian's Wisddom. Some of the most impressive works exhibited here include paintings by Carpacio and El Grego, as well as fascinating objects such as the shoes Carpacio used in one of the paintings. The Correr Museum is one of the best ways to get to know Venice.
