Boekman Foundation, Library
The Boekman was founded in 1963 and is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Cultural Affairs. The foundation provides information on culture and on the arts in general. In particular, it supplies information on (inter)national art policy and art management. This means the fine and applied arts, literature and popular culture, music and the performing arts, the care of the cultural heritage, cultural institutions and services such as libraries and museums, and the media.
The library boasts a collection regarding government policy towards culture and the arts, government and private funding, legal aspects including copyright, art management, marketing and sponsorship in the arts, and material on the socio-economic position of the artist, the amateur arts and the art education. It features books, policy statements, doctoral and master's theses, reports, newspapers dealing with culture and the arts within a social and administrative context. Most materials are in Dutch and deal with Dutch issues.
