Sorolla Museum
This museum, housed in a typical house from the first half of the 20th Century, is dedicated to the renowned Spanish painter of that time Joaquin Sorolla. He spent the last years of his life in the elegant dwelling, starting from 1912. After his death his widow turned it over to the Spanish government which declared it a memorial of national importance. Currently the museum is still under the wardship of the Ministry of Culture.
The exhibits to be found include two major groups - the rooms where Sorolla lived, preserved pretty much as he left them with sculptures, ceramics and other characteristic artefacts, and a wing of the house, where most of his greatest works are displayed. The painter is famous for his portraits of local noblemen, as well as for the Costa Blanca beach landscapes. Here you can admire Sorolla's self-portrait and portraits of his wife and son.
