Goldens Dachl
The golden balcony, that was used by the royal family to watch theatrical stages and other entertainments, is now the most outstanding Innsbruck's symbol. This very precious "gift" to the people of Innsbruck was ordered by Maximilian I, who wanted all 2,600 copper shingles on the royal balcony to be covered in gold. This extravagant idea caused many problems to the royal household's finances.

Arch Triumph is probably Innsbruck's most significant attraction. This reminiscent of a Roman triumphal arch was ordered in the middle of 18th century by Maria Theresa as a sign of engagement of her son Leopold to the Spanish Maria Ludovica. The death of Emperor Franz Stephan I during the festivals of the marriage was the reason of some reconstructions of the Arch; the architect made jolly figures on the southern facing side, and mourning ones on the north.

Schloss Ambras was turned into a museum by Archduke Ferdninand II. The Gallery of Wonders offers a great spectrum of exotic objects such as ivory, coral, a rhinoceros' horn and other interesting exhibits brought back to Europe by the explorers. In the palace, there is also the Habsburg's portrait gallery where on can see outstanding works of Mor Tizian, Ven Dyck, Cranach and Velasquez. What's more, the building is surrounded by a beautiful English garden.
