The Glasshouse is a modern three-floor hotel located in Scotland's capital city, 300 meters from bustling Princes Street. The modern glass architecture incorporates the façade of the 150-year-old Lady Glenorchy Church. All 65 air-conditioned guestrooms have chic contemporary décor and furniture and floor to ceiling windows. Designer toiletries, bathrobes and slippers,and Frette Egyptian cotton bed linen provide comfort; while minibars,cable television, CD players and high-speed wireless Internet connections offer entertainment. Suites feature spacious living areas with wooden floors; each suite is named after a Scots whisky and contains a decanter of the whisky for guests to sample. The majority of rooms have private terraces.
The hotel features a private, two-acre rooftop garden, offering a tranquil retreat. Landscaped with lawn, shrubs, a large patio, and network of paths, it offers views of Calton Hill; items from the room service menu can be enjoyed on the roof garden, which is open all day, and often hosts sculpture exhibitions. Cooked-to-order Scottish and Continental buffet breakfasts are available in the Observatory, with cherry-wood paneling and large windows overlooking the woodland. The Snug is open every evening until the early hou rsand a 20 sophisticated but informal lounge has sofas, armchairs, and an ultracontemporary gas fire set within a broad coffee table. The room service menu is available 24 hours and offers three-course meals. Three modern boardrooms and two syndicate rooms are available for business functions, and two social rooms, as well as the rooftop garden, are available for event and weddings. The hotel also features its own gallery space, regularly displaying the latest artwork from local Edinburgh artists. Guests can enjoy a night out at the Edinburgh Playhouse, located next door to the hotel and visit Edinburgh Castle, one mile away. The hotel is approximately eight miles and a 20 minute drive from Edinburgh Airport. Frequent daily bus station adjacent to the Terminal to the central Edinburgh bus terminus at Waverley Bridge, 700 meters from the hotel. Taxis are also available from a taxi rank adjacent to the Terminal; a one way taxi fare is approximately £15. Central Edinburgh is compact and, although hilly, can be explored on foot.

Transport Initiative Edinburgh has temporarily suspended the parking bay in front of the hotel, which allows guests to easily park up in a taxi. This is a direct result of the road works being undertaken by the Edinburgh Council to install a Tram network. The suspension of the parking bay will last for 9 weeks beginning 4 April 2009.

Until the re-instatement of the parking bay, the hotel recommends the following:
If travelling by taxi, request to be dropped off at Picardy Place. Walk towards Leith Walk and cross the road by the Playhouse Theatre. The Glasshouse Edinburgh is located next door to the theatre. The distance is approximately 40 yards.
If travelling by car, the hotel recommends parking at the NCP car park at Greenside Row in the Omni complex, and then walking to the hotel via the Omni Centre.
If guests require assistance with their luggage, they can contact the hotel at the number on the reservation confirmation upon arrival at the car park, and the hotel will assist guests in a timely manner.
