The Amigo opened in 1958 and was totally refurbished in 2001. The hotel is located in the centre of Brussels, right next to the Grand Place, or Grote Markt, considered to be Europe's most beautiful square. The refurbishment pertains to the highest levels of five-star accommodation and personal service. The new design of the Amigo Hotel, strictly traditional and only with a few modern touches, contributes to the site's Flemish feel. The bathrooms contain mosaic details in red or green matching the marble vanity tops and Tintin figures. The site includes the lates in-room facilities, namely two-line phones, voice messaging, interactive satellite TV, fax and dataport lines, a minibar and a safe. The rooms are air-conditioned. The hotel retains the building's 18th century Flanders wall tapestries and authentic Brussels paving stones of the 1600s. Ristorante Bocconi offers simple Italian cuisine using fresh products served in a warm Mediterranean atmosphere.
